Carline and her huge fright

Carline enjoyed visiting her granny who lives in Port Nolloth. Granny usually picks her up and puts her on her lap and then tells her the most wonderful stories. In all these stories Carline played the main role.

In the evenings they usually went for a walk along the beach using a small flashlight. One evening they both had a terrible fright. While they were walking along peacefully, they suddenly saw a movement on the sand. Not one of them could really see what it was.

“Granny, what do you think just moved on the sand?”

“Dearie, I really don’t know! We better turn around and go back home.”

“No, Granny, it is so nice to be on the soft sand. I hear a soft whistling sound. What do you think it can be?”

“If I must guess, I wonder if it’s maybe the well-known whistling frog which usually hops around in the sand.”

They flash the light across the sand and guess what do they see? A whistling frog sitting in the sand.

Granny picks it up and shines the flashlight onto its tummy.

“Look how transparent it is and it looks as if there is milk in its tummy. Let’s put it down and then we can return tomorrow evening and maybe see another one.”

Carline feels exhausted after all the excitement! While talking they walk back home and in a few moments she is far away in dreamland where she is paying a visit to all the whistling froggies!
