Kgopelo’s dad leaves home early, heading out while the world is still quiet . This story follows Kgopelo as he notices the small, everyday moments that show how much his dad cares for their family.

Kgopelo’s heart is very sore today. His daddy had to go to work very early and he loves it when his daddy brings him to school.

His other friends are laughing and playing. Teacher must use force to tear him away from his mommy. He screams so loud that Logan grabs his ears! Mommy feels very bad and doesn’t know what to do to make him stop crying.

Luckily, Teacher Susan has a secret way of comforting a child. She keeps a huge tin stashed away in her cupboard. This tin is filled with small toys. Kgopelo’s eyes are shining again. Teacher picks him up and gives him a huge hug and lets him wave goodbye to his mommy when she leaves.

Teacher asks him why he is so upset. With a weak voice he tells Teacher how scared he is when his daddy leaves home. He is afraid he will never come and fetch him again. Teacher explains calmly that his daddy will always come and fetch him at school.

Suddenly Kgopelo smiles and starts playing with Lefiwa. They are building a very big tower. “All is well that ends well!” says Teacher Susan and immediately starts working.
