Kobus gets dirty
Kobus is a curious, adventurous boy. On Saturday mornings he has to be quiet. But today, a little voice whispers in his ear and Kobus finds himself in a muddy mess...
This morning Kobus is very happy. It is Saturday morning and Dad and Mom are still sleeping soundly. On a Saturday he may get up early and open the security gate to watch TV. He also knows that he isn’t allowed to go outside or make a noise.
This morning there is a naughty little man on his shoulder urging him to be naughty! He already saw Daddy unlocking the door and switching off the alarm. He pulls a chair nearer and gets onto it! He unlocks the door and runs outside.
He packed a whole bag full of little cars with a lot of things to build a big farm. First of all he builds a huge dam which can hold a lot of water. He opens the tap and makes a big mud pool. This game starts to be rather pleasant.
He uses the big plastic tractor to race through the mud. Wow, the back wheels of the tractor make such huge waves when he pushes them through the mud. His pyjama trousers are already chocolate brown with all the mud. He keeps on wiping his hands on his top. He looks just like a little chocolate man.
Suddenly he hears Mummy calling anxiously in the house: “Kobus, Kobus, where are you? Dad, I can’t find Kobus anywhere! Where can he be? The front door is open!”
He immediately realizes that he isn’t supposed to be outside and that terrible trouble is coming his way! He tries to sneak quietly into the house. Mummy gets a bad fright when she sees the little chocolate man standing in front of her.
“Kobus! Where were you? You know you’re not allowed to play outside when we are not awake! This is irresponsible! I would like to take all your toys and give them away! You were really very naughty!”
Kobus starts crying heartrendingly. “Mummy, there was a naughty little man on my shoulder who told me to go and play outside! I listened to him and look at me now! I’m very sorry, Mummy!”
Mom sees that he is really very sorry and comforts him. “Wow, but you are really very dirty! You must remember that Dads and Moms make rules to protect their children. You must never ever again do such things. Shoot the naughty little man from your shoulder and quickly go and eat your porridge. You first have to take a bath before sitting at the dining table.”
“Right, Mummy, I’ll do that immediately.”
It’s very important to listen to one’s parents. They have rules for your safety. You can get terribly hurt if you don’t listen or you can also be in danger when you are disobedient.
