The big, dazzling yellow, monstrous side-tip truck

Johnny is crazy about trucks. It is his whole life. When he plays outside, it usually is with his pretty Tonka and Caterpillar trucks. His family knows that if any present must be bought, it must be a truck or any other construction vehicle.

Last week he was compelled to accompany his mother to town to buy an overall for him. It is nice to put this on in winter and it protects one’s clothes when playing. Johnny couldn’t believe his eyes when they walked past Pinnochio Toy Shop. In the front of the window a dazzling yellow, monstrous side-tip truck was displayed. It was the most beautiful truck he had ever seen in his life.

He instantly started to moan and groan. “Mommy, I must have that truck! I’ve never seen such a truck in my whole life. Mommy, please buy it for me, Mommy!”

Mommy immediately felt frustrated. It’s so easy for Johnny to always want toys! Everything his eyes sees, he wants. He was so disobedient during the past week that he doesn’t deserve anything special. She must be stricter. A disobedient and naughty child is a thorn in the flesh. She really wants a well-behaved child who listens and does what is asked of him.

That evening she and Daddy sat on the sofa watching TV. Mommy told Daddy that Johnny really wanted the dazzling yellow, monstrous side-tip truck. Daddy had a wonderful plan. He thought about making a reward card for Johnny.

This reward card will have a picture of a big, dazzling yellow, monstrous side-tip truck which will drive to Pinocchio’s Toy Shop. There will be definite tasks and behaviour instructions which he will have to obey before receiving any reward. The truck will only move to the toy shop if he obeys.

The next morning Johnny had a terrible fright! On his wall was a huge picture of the most beautiful, dazzling yellow, monstrous side-tip truck. What was that?

Mommy and Daddy explained to him what they had in mind. If he had 200 marks on the picture and the truck moved to the toy shop, they would buy him the big, dazzling yellow, monstrous side-tip truck.

“Mommy, Daddy I’m going to try my utmost best to be the most well-behaved boy in the whole world. I’m going to show everybody that I’m really a good boy.”

The parents felt so happy! They suddenly saw a light in their lives.

Johnny started picking up his clothes in his room and putting them in the washing bin. He now eats all his food. When he visits Granny, he sits quietly playing with his blocks.

We hope he will earn 200 marks quickly to receive that big, dazzling yellow, monstrous side-tip truck
